Grinch Party
Today we had a Grinch party and watched "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" and used the opportunity to remind them Christmas is about Jesus not things.
We had green grapes, green Christmas tree brownies, lime sherbet floats, frozen green (vanilla) pudding, and fruit grinches in Christmas hats.

Music and Learning
There have been many studies showing how music improves learning. I try to put lessons to music as much as possible. My students sing when I ask my students to name the days of the week.
Here is one more study. http://www.bestinfographic.co.uk/2012/06/21/music-and-learning-infographic/

Ice Experiment
We performed and experiment with ice. We used small ice cubes to decide what we should use on icy roads in colder climates.
We put salt, black pepper, red pepper hot sauce, sugar, and warm water on the ice cubes. We left one plain as a control. We checked back several times to see which ones were melting the fastest.
*The warm water worked the fastest. We discussed how it would cool and make more ice.
*The next one was salt. We decided it was the quickest and safest "melter."
*Sugar worked almost as quickly as the salt.
*The red pepper hot sauce worked a little quicker than the black pepper and control.
*Black pepper melted at the same rate as the control.
The kids had a blast.
