Christmas Party Day

We came to school in pajamas. We went to the Center Room to watch Polar Express, eat popcorn, and drink hot cocoa. Then we went to our room for a Happy Birthday Jesus party. I made owl hats for the girls and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle hats for the boys. My K5 nappers were more excited about the hats than the younger students. All of my kids heard the bells. ;)

Grinch Party

We had green snack items while watching the Grinch cartoon.

We listened to the story and discussed how Christmas is about the birth of Jesus and how we give gifts as a symbol of the Greatest Gift.
Check out our Grinch masks.

Bookmarks for Parents

I made these to put in the information folders I give parents at Parent Orientation.  I have seen these on Pinterest.  I got the pdf from Jonnelle at A Place Called Kindergarten. I just printed them on cardstock, cut, hole-punched, and added ribbon.

Classroom Makeover Planning

I am doing a classroom makeover.  I decided to go ahead and do it now.  Prospective students and parents tour the school during summer. Another plus will be organization time during in-service. I can't wait to have it ready.
Teachers are always tweaking their classroom.  This is especially true after the first year in a grade or room. Some things can be changed during the year and others require some downtime.  I have a VERY small room.  It is the closest to the bathrooms (very important with K3) so I am stuck with it. I have been searching Pinterest and brainstorming for the first half of the summer. Now it is time for action!
I teach at a private school.  First impressions are very important.  Right now all of my stuff is off the wall and things are stacked-up.  Parents and students will only see the toys.  I want them to know that our class is about much more than toys.
The past two classes I have had were set-up in a hurry.  I would love to have my classroom ready to go.  Then, I can spend my in-service time labeling with students names and organizing curriculum.
I will post pictures, tutorials, and links as I go.  After I post the information, I would love constructive comments.

STOP sign paper

This is a lacing project. Lacing projects take a lot of individual attention. I thought it might be nice for you to get to do one with your child. Then they can have complete one-on-one attention. Please pop the sign out of the paper, push out the holes and lace with the white yarn provided. Ask your child the following questions. What shape is this? (octagon) What color is this? (red) What does it say? (stop)

Wacky Wednesday

Tomorrow, the 29th, is Wacky Wednesday. Please send your children in wacky clothes (backwards shirts, mismatched shoes, etc...).

February 13-17

We have a busy week ahead. We will have our first music lesson with Mrs. B on Monday. We will also start practicing for the Grandparents' Day program in the sanctuary. Tuesday is our Valentine's Day party. Remember you don't need to send any food or drinks that day. All students in our class need to bring a dozen doughnuts or doughnut holes on Thursday for the reception that will follow our program. Friday is Grandparents' Day. There will be a reception after the program. All students must be picked-up before 11:30.

Pre-registration will begin soon. We will have K3-8th grade. More information to follow.

Valentine's Day Bulletin Board

I saw this on Pinterest. I wish I would have noticed the varying shades of red construction paper before I started stapling. Oh well, next year
